Are you a young filmmaker, 25 years of age or under, interested in expressing your social commitment and showcasing your talent? Explore our website and discover how you can participate in an exciting film competition to raise awareness about hunger in the United States.
On November 17, 2009, at 12:01am, the twenty (20) films with the highest number of online public votes will advance to the second and final round of judging which will be conducted by a panel of prominent figures in the anti-hunger community, as well as recognized individuals in the film/entertainment industry.
Second round of judging will go from approx 12/1-12/18 and the winner will be announced both on FacesofHunger.GotSpot.com and FacesofHunger.org no later than January 15, 2010.
"The fact that more than one in every ten Americans is impacted by food insecurity makes us quite unique among wealthy democracies in the world. The U.S. is not the only nation where people go hungry but it is the only wealthy industrial nation where such a high percentage of its population suffers from nutritional deprivation due to inadequate incomes. Nearly one in five children, in our nation, lives below the poverty level. We have more than enough food to end this problem. The real issue is not whether America can end hunger, the question is whether we have the leadership to do so."
